Meet the Team
Kai Dickens – CEO, Speaker & Money Coach
Kai is extremely passionate about supporting people in living the life of their dreams and transforming their relationship with money. Through his work as a coach, he quickly found that the biggest obstacles holding people back from creating that dream life and earning the amount of money they want were their limiting beliefs and old money stories. As a money and life coach at Dr. Budgets, he tailors his coaching to each client and provides the tools and accountability needed to reprogram those old unconscious behaviors.
On June 21, 2021, Kai said yes to what he considers the opportunity of a lifetime and became the proud owner of Dr. Budgets. Through his experience being part of Dr. Budgets as a client, a coach and now in his newest role – as owner – Kai truly understands how it feels to be on both sides of the coin. He is now determined to use all the knowledge from his former roles to continue to improve Dr. Budgets for each client he works with.
Kai is a California native who has had the pleasure of living in many different cities in the US. He is a graduate of and former mentor coach with Accomplishment Coaching in San Diego and is currently working on an MS in Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego.
When he is not working, you can find Kai looking for his next adventure, playing laser tag, paintball, working out, spending time with friends /family or at the movies. As an avid traveler, he loves Southeast Asia and is currently working on visiting each country in that region. Kai spends his time between San Diego and Denver where he is surrounded by some amazing friends and family. He is currently looking forward to adopting a puppy really soon!
Daniel Rodriguez – Founder & Consultant
Dr. Budgets was founded because Daniel realized many people struggle with creating healthy spending habits. They don’t know how to change their current patterns to support their goals, and would love the help of an actual person to show them how to plan, spend money, and save money. They want someone to keep them on track, hold them accountable, and encourage them so they can achieve their financial goals.
Due to Daniel’s background in personal finance, accounting, and business sales, his clients really profit from his well-rounded understanding of their personal and business needs. His non-judgmental and confidential approach makes the process easy and enjoyable. Since selling the company, he still remains close to Kai and stays involved with Dr. Budgets as a consultant where his experience and knowledge are both welcomed and appreciated.
Daniel was born and raised in San Diego, CA and has built a very impressive resume. He graduated cum laude from San Diego State University with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration (emphasis in Accounting). He earned his Master’s degree from SDSU in Financial and Tax Planning, and was honored as the Outstanding Graduating MSBA Student by the SDSU Finance department in 2007. He has worked for Qualcomm, PricewaterhouseCoopers, ING, Northwestern Mutual, and First Choice Business Brokers
Thanks to Daniel’s bilingual parents, he is fluent in three languages (English, Spanish, and German). In his free time he loves to travel to Europe, spend time with his family, play disc golf, play tennis, root for the SDSU Aztecs basketball team and the San Diego Padres. Daniel and his wife live in Scripps Ranch (San Diego, CA) with their adorable daughter (Clara)
